Lucy Kanu, MSW, Supervisee of Social Work
Psychotherapist
Lucy Kanu is a therapist who is passionate about working collaboratively with clients to uncover and overcome the obstacles that hinder personal growth and well-being. Her approach centers on creating a supportive, culturally affirming environment where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered.
Her perspective on healing is shaped by her cultural identity, allowing her to create space for clients to feel seen, valued, and affirmed. She believes that culture is central to how individuals understand themselves and navigate the world. In therapy, Lucy creates space for all parts of a person’s identity—because healing should never require leaving parts of oneself behind.
Lucy earned her bachelor’s degree in human services with a minor in Sociology from Old Dominion University and her Master of Social Work from Walden University. She is currently working toward her LCSW and provides therapy that is personalized and holistic.
Her approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strengths-based practices to support healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring challenges. She is also passionate about helping clients rediscover the value of self-care as a vital part of emotional wellness and resilience.
Whether clients are navigating a life transition, managing chronic stress, or seeking clarity and connection, she is honored to support them on their journey.
